Road racing came to Watkins Glen in 1948 with the amateur road race to be called the "Watkins Glen Grand Prix".  You can still drive a self-guided tour of the original circuit through the Village of Watkins Glen and reach the finish line. Along the way you will see placards indicating circuit landmarks. In 1956 the decision was made to build a permanent road course, and the 9th Watkins Glen Grand Prix would be held on an all-new track.
DRIVE THE GLEN
In addition to being a spectator, you can choose to “Drive The Glen!” Find out what it feels like to drive this storied road course while piloting your personal vehicle around the 3.45-mile Grand Prix circuit, paced by an official WGI pace car
